gin ebony (she/they) is a Canadian dancer, broadcaster, astrologer, musician and dj known for their monthly radio show- case, STEP 01, airing on n10.as radio (MTL). gin’s collection and presentation of sound are respectively vast and versatile; radio is a place of experimentation with sonic storytelling via the juxtaposition of musical genres.
gin’s heart resides in Detroit, Michigan where their community provides an endless source of creative validation, support, and inspiration; a city of which every square inch, to her, is a dance floor. gin traditionally celebrates Detroit’s Underground on Memorial Day Wknd (DEMF) by preparing a mix of sound produced by some of its scheduled performers. They mass copy the annual DEMF mix to compact discs, listen to it on repeat while rolling through this long-wknd, gifting cds to djs they come across along the way.
gin’s DEMF 2022 mix - dubbed the BATS OUTTA HELL mix, aka The ClubTM mix - points to the collective energy leading into this DEMF long-wknd; evoking poignant imagery surrounding our re-unification on dance floors as we emerge after two years of the living hell that was the pandemic snuffing out our annual long-wknd JOY.
