Art Basel is one of the largest and most prestigious fairs for contemporary art in the world. It was founded as an annual event in 1970 by gallerists Earnst Beyeler, Trudi Bruckner and Balz Hilt, and took place only in Switzerland until 2002 when it began to include Miami Beach as a secondary host each year. This expansion allowed the fair to reach new audiences while offering a unique vacation experience for art collectors and enthusiasts.
