    • Ashley Cook (b. 1986, Detroit, MI) is a Detroit-based artist and writer whose work investigates the interplay between fantasy and reality as it relates to our constant quest for meaning. Her work utilizes common themes, objects, images, and places in order to present momentary breakdowns of established systems of thought, exploring the play and poetics that can come from this abstraction. Ashley received her BFA from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit in 2009 and her MFA at Haute école d’Art et de Design in Geneva, Switzerland in 2017. She is the founder and lead editor of the Detroit-based arts and culture publication, runner magazine, and has written texts for Holiday (Paris, France), Morning Calm (Seoul, South Korea), Middle Node (Pittsburgh), and Detroit Art Review (Detroit, Michigan, USA) among others.
